What’s New

New features and improvements in each version of Magpie. Once installed, Magpie keeps itself up to date.

1.3.0

Latest
  • Runs natively on Intel Macs too, not just Apple silicon.
  • Better with several displays: the shelf appears on the screen you’re using, and dragging a file to the top-right corner of any display summons it.
  • Keyboard navigation: ↑/↓ to select (⇧ to extend), Return or ⌘O to open.

1.2.5

  • Multiple shelves: the shelf title is now a menu to add (⌘T), switch (⌘1–⌘9), rename, pin or close shelves — and reopen ones you just closed.
  • Right-click files to move them to another shelf.
  • New “Send Feedback…” in the menu bar menu.

1.2.3

  • Notarized by Apple: after downloading, just double-click and click Open.

1.2.2

  • Tucks into the screen edge when idle: the shelf shrinks to a small tab and slides out when you hover or drag a file onto it. You can turn this off in Settings.
  • Dropping images and lots of files at once is much faster, and thumbnails appear sooner.

1.2.0

  • No Accessibility permission needed anymore.
  • Automatic updates: Magpie tells you when a new version is out.
  • Items follow their files when you rename or move them.
  • Remove an image’s background in one click, or combine images into a PDF.
  • Put web links on the shelf; double-click to open them in your browser.
